Capital letter D is arising from the synthesis of the capital letters E whereas the hook strongly equals O, although differing in nuances. Compared to O the letter D is designed narrower and doesn’t tower over baseline or maximal majuscule. The counter may be designed asymetrical resp. drop-shaped to create dynamic forms.
